SEiSMiC Gets Rolling in the Netherlands
The inaugural SEiSMiC workshop of the Netherlands kicks off activities this week of the project's Dutch national network.
The meeting, strategically located in Amersfoort (a short journey from Amsterdam and Utrecht), will lay the groundwork for two years of activities of the newly formed network. Participants include urban researchers, policy makers and other people interested in social innovation.
The day-long meeting, held at the restaurant and events venue Zandfoort aan de Eem, will engage participants in three main questions:
- Tips, tricks and challenges on social innovation's potential to address the major urban challenges over the next 30 years;
- how social and community initiatives in Belgium and the other SEiSMiC project countries are dealing with these challenges
- how European policy and research can be optimised to held address major urban challenges.
Keynote speakers will be Federico Savini of the University of Amsterdam and Kaat Peeters of the Social Innovation Factory from Flanders.
After discussion, the meeting will identify tasks, insights and themes for future European research and policy on urban development.
